Located in the historic Nelson Mandela Building at 37 Harrison Street, Johannesburg Central, Education Alive is a co-educational school serving Grade R through Grade 12. With 751 current students and capacity for 2,000, we are one of Johannesburg CBD's most accessible and forward-thinking schools.
As a school licensed by Applied Scholastics International and accredited by UMALUSI, we follow the standard South African government curriculum — but we go further. Every teacher is trained in LRH Study Technology, and every student learns how to learn through our structured checksheet workshops.
We accept students at any time of year and at any grade level. Our open-floor-plan facility across six floors of a historic Johannesburg building creates an environment that is both stimulating and welcoming.

"Students fail to learn because no one ever taught them how to learn."
— L. Ron Hubbard, Study Technology
Study Technology
Developed by American author and educator L. Ron Hubbard, Study Technology (Study Tech) is a secular educational methodology that identifies the three primary barriers that prevent students from truly understanding a subject — and gives them the tools to overcome those barriers. Over 68 million people across 73 nations have been aided by Study Technology.
When a student has no physical reality of what they are studying, learning becomes abstract and difficult.
Moving too fast through learning steps without full understanding creates confusion and overwhelm.
A single word or symbol not fully understood can block all comprehension of what follows.
Academic Programs
Education Alive offers the full South African national curriculum from pre-primary through to the National Senior Certificate, enhanced by Applied Scholastics Study Technology at every level.
Study Technology Workshops
Education Alive's historic open-floor-plan building is the perfect environment for the collaborative, hands-on workshops that are central to Study Technology. Students work in groups to apply the tools of Study Tech — using clay, dictionaries, and real-world demonstrations to make abstract concepts concrete.

Accreditation & Trust
Education Alive is formally accredited by UMALUSI — the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training in South Africa.
Licensed by Applied Scholastics International to use Study Technology and deliver APS checksheet programmes for both teachers and students.
Formally registered with the South African Department of Education. Approved for government grants. Compliant with all national education regulations.
Grade 12 students write the National Senior Certificate (Matric) examination. Our UMALUSI accreditation ensures full recognition of all qualifications.

Student Outcomes
Every Education Alive graduate leaves with not just a Matric certificate, but with the Study Technology tools to continue learning and succeeding throughout their life.
